Cleveland Clinic's inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive
and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists,
clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting
60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, and 10 cath labs,
accounting for over 1,440 inpatient beds. As an Inpatient Pharmacy
Technician, you will play a vital link in moving medications
throughout the facility to enhance patient care. A caregiver in
this position works varying shifts. A caregiver who excels in this
role will:
- Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of
pharmaceutical care for patients in service responsibility in a
routine, continuous manner, considering the age and clinical
condition of each patient.
- Provide general and patient specific drug information to
patients, physicians, nurses and, and other health care
professionals.
- Support clinical pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care
to patients by direct interaction, and formal educational programs.
- Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual
learning, journal review and other educational activities.
- Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students,
post graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses, and
physicians in pharmacotherapy within in the specialty area. Minimum
qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited
college of pharmacy and completion of a post-graduate residency or
fellowship training
- S pecialty residency (is required , if hired for a specialty
area where specialty residency training is available)
- Current s tate licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or
eligible for reciprocation in current s tate within 90 days of hire
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the
American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of
Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or
certification obtained within 90 days of hire (For individuals
required to administer immunizations)
- C urrent Advanced Cardi ac Life Support (ACLS) certification
and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) c ertification
through American Heart Association (AHA). For caregivers required
to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest, this is
required within one year of hire
- Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or
fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency
(PGY-1) and 2 years of experience as a clinical specialist or an
equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and
performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring including 50% or more of
time spent in the specialty area OR 4 years of experience as a
clinical specialist or an equivalent role which includes providing
pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring
including 50% or more of time spent in the specialty area Preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job
while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75%
of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing
functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping,
climbing steps and sitting.
- Must have normal or corrected vision.
- Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or
